Islamabad : Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has asked Interior Minister Rehman Malik to make a concerted effort along with the provincial governments to improve the security situation in the country.
Gilani Tuesday also told Malik to strengthen the intelligence gathering and sharing mechanism.
Associated Press of Pakistan quoted Gilani as saying that steps must be taken to enhance the counter militancy effectiveness of the law enforcement agencies.
The overall security situation of the country was also discussed during the meeting.
Malik spoke about the steps taken to enhance coordination and intelligence sharing with the provincial security agencies.
Pakistan has been hit by a string of terror attacks, particularly after May 2 when Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was gunned down by US commandos in Abbottabad city.
