Hundreds stranded near Rohtang Pass

Manali : Hundreds of people, mainly tourists, were stranded near Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district Thursday with landslides triggered by heavy rains blocking the roads, an official here said.

“Labourers have been deployed this (Thursday) morning to reopen the road near Rani Nullah (some 45 km from Manali). It’s likely to be reopened later in the day,” Deputy Commissioner B.M. Nanta told IANS.

“We have provided all logistic support to the tourists. They are in good health,” he added.

The 13,051-feet-high Rohtang Pass, located 52 km from Manali, is on the Manali-Leh highway and it attracts thousands of tourists for adventure-related activities.
