Panaji: With an eye to the assembly polls in the near future, the Goa unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to publish 1 lakh booklets highlighting the failings and scandals of the Congress-led state government.
Addressing a press conference here Wednesday, state BJP president Laxmikant Parsenkar said that the booklet would list all the scams of the Digambar Kamat-led coalition government and quote facts and figures sourced from information tabled in the state assembly over the last few years.
“The book is aptly called ‘Kalankit Sarkar’ (tainted government). It will have details on scams and scandals like the illegal mining scams, police-politician-drug mafia nexus, excise scams and several dozens of wrong doings of this government,” Parsenkar said.
He said that the project had cost the party about Rs.4 lakh rupees. The first issue will be released later this week by BJP’s deputy leader in Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde.
Munde is also the party’s secretary in charge of the assembly elections in Goa.
The state elections are scheduled to be held early next year.
The Congress-led Goa government has been rocked by scandals, with senior ministers including Chief Minister Digambar Kamat himself being accused of sheltering multi-million rupee scams ranging from illegal mining and excise evasion among others.
In the police-politician-drug mafia issue, Home Minister Ravi Naik’s son has also been linked by the international media and the opposition, BJP officials said.
