New Delhi: The Central Government is setting up 20 Counter Insurgency and Anti-Terrorism schools (CIATs) in the states of Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa, Manipur, Nagaland, West Bengal and Tripura. Out of these, 13 Schools have already been set up and are functional.
The Union Government has sanctioned Rs. 52.40 crore for the scheme. Rs. 25.50 crore was released to the State governments which have utilised Rs. 17.78 crore as per table given below:-
The information was given by Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs, Gurudas Kamat in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on 1st March 2011.
