Chennai: Fourteen AIADMK MPs have urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to order a judicial probe into the alleged tapping of party leader J. Jayalalithaa’s phones by the Tamil Nadu government.
The letter, dated March 1, was released to reporters here Thursday.
According to the MPs, police had been instructed by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi to tap the mobile and landline phones of the former chief minister.
The MPs said police had stationed mobile vans in and around her residence for surveillance. They wanted to know if the alleged telephone tap had been ordered by the central government.
