Srinagar : Hardline separatist leader and chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat group Syed Ali Geelani continued to remain under house arrest in Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar Friday.
Immediately after his arrival from Delhi Thursday, Geelani was placed under house arrest at his uptown Hyderpora residence here.
Geelani had been questioned for four hours about a Hawala money racket by Delhi Police Wednesday.
A contingent of police has been placed outside Geelani’s residence to prevent him from moving out. Visitors were also not being allowed inside the residence, sources in Geelani’s Hurriyat said here.
In his tweet Thursday, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had remarked that school children had started attending schools after the winter break in the Kashmir Valley and Geelani had also arrived back “after his holiday outside”.
