Kolkata : Failure in the qualifying examination prompted two Class 10 girl students in West Bengal to end life by consuming poison, police said Sunday.
The bodies of Moina Das and Bandana Kumbhakar, both Class 10 students of Kulghora High School in Purulia district, were found in a nearby field Saturday, additional Police Superintendent C. Sudhakar said.
“They had left their homes Saturday morning. Parents approached the police when they did not return till evening,” he said.
Preliminary reports suggest that the girls committed suicide after
consuming insecticide.
Investigation revealed that both girls had failed to qualify for the secondary examination conducted by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education
after their poor performance in the school test,” said Sudhakar.
