Colombo : The US has announced a donation of $4.2 million to support the return of Tamils displaced by the Sri Lankan war.
The contribution will come from the government’s US Agency for International Development. The money will provide for food aid including wheat flour, lentils and vegetable oil.
This will meet the needs of up to 371,000 people who were forced to flee their homes during fighting between the military and the now vanquished Tamil Tigers.
To date, the US has provided nearly $33 million in food aid to Sri Lankan.
