New Delhi : The following announcements were made by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in the Lok Sabha Friday during a discussion on the budget for the fiscal 2011-12:
* Annual allocation toward member of parliament local area development scheme enhanced to Rs.5 crore from Rs.2 crore
* Capital investment in education and healthcare to get infrastructure status, making them eligible for low-cost funding
* Government to create a Rs.500-crore women’s self-help group development fund to extend soft loans
* Duration extended for scheme that provides concessional loans to some 2 million eligible fishermen
* Taxation proposals considered by the government following representations by lawmakers will be unveiled during discussion on Finance Bill, 2011.
