“Taking the totality of circumstances into consideration, the ministry is of the opinion that those Indian nationals, especially family members, who wish to temporarily and voluntarily return home from Tokyo or other affected areas, may do so,” said an advisory issued by the ministry Saturday.

The Indian embassy in Tokyo is running a 24-hour helpline (00-81-3-32622391 to 97). Air India has been running enhanced capacity flight to accommodate Indians wanting to leave Japan.
