Possible India-Pakistan clash not on Afridi’s mind now

By Sirshendu Panth, IANS,

Dhaka: A mouth-watering India-Pakistan World Cup semifinal clash would be a reality if the sub-continental arch-rivals win their respective quarterfinal outings, but the possible mega battle is not on Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi’s radar right now. Instead, he is completely focussed on Wednesday’s last eight game against the West Indies.

“We want to focus on the game against the West Indies for the moment. I don’t know what will happen in the semifinal. But I don’t want to discuss about that now,” Afridi told mediapersons here Tuesday.

Afridi said his team was hopeful of winning the quarterfinal against the West Indies, but would not underestimate the Caribbeans, who had several promising players.

India would take on Australia in the second quarterfinal in Ahmedabad Thursday.

The winners of these two knockout matches would face off in the second semifinal at Mohali March 30.
