Islamabad : The Taliban planned to stage an attack in India during the World Cup but this has been foiled, a top Interpol official said Thursday.
Interpol Secretary General Ronald Nobel said a joint press conference with Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik that a terror bid during the World Cup had been thwarted, Geo TV reported.
The Taliban militants tried to enter India, Malik said, adding that some people were arrested in this regard but none of them were Pakistanis.
He said Pakistan had shared intelligence information with the Interpol to foil the terrorism bid.
