Three held for pharmacist’s murder

New Delhi : Three people were arrested for murdering a pharmacist when he unwittingly tried to intervene and stop a fight between two rival factions, Delhi Police said Tuesday.

“Anwar, 25, Aksar, 23, and Saikh Safuddin, 22, were held from New Seemapuri area in east Delhi on Monday,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Jain.

At around 11 p.m. Friday, the three arrested men and a fourth absconding accused Dabbu attacked Rahis, a known criminal in the area, with swords and knives.

“Jakaullah, a pharmacist returning from his elder brother’s clinic, tried to intervene to save Rahis. The four men attacked the pharmacist and he was seriously injured on his neck. Rahis and Jakaullah were taken to a hospital where Jakaullah was declared brought dead,” Jain said.

During interrogation, it was revealed that Dabbu and Rahis’ stepson Zafar had differences. Both were in love with the same girl and had monetary disputes as well.

The officer said Rahis was attacked because of the enemity between Zafar and Dabbu and the pharmacist was murdered because he intervened in the fight.
