Greg Norman-designed golf course gets tourism award

New Delhi : A Greg Norman designed course in the Greater Noida suburb of the national capital has been awarded the tourism ministry’s “Best Tourism Friendly Golf Course” at the National Tourism Awards 2009-10.

The award was given away at a function here Tuesday attended among others by Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahai and Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra.

The Jaypee Greens Golf Course, the country’s first Greg Norman signature championship course, was cited for providing the best golf facilities in a lush green environment.

Spread across 197 acres, the course is an 18-hole championship layout, “designed with the firm belief of setting new standards for championship golf in India and at the same time remains enjoyable for golfers at all levels”, its promoters Jaypee Hotels said in a statement.

The facility “features an exclusive clubhouse Boomerang, a true rendezvous for the connoisseurs of the game. The golf academy offers various kinds of membership to suit different categories of golfers,” the statement added.

Speaking on the occasion, Jaypee Hotels director Manju Sharma said the award “stands testimony to Jaypee’s vision of providing the finest facilities to discerning customers on its luxurious landscapes.”

“The award is a reassurance of our belief to offer a rewarding experience to our customers with a fine blend of lifestyle and comfort,” Sharma added.
