Navi Mumbai : A Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader was Thursday arrested for cheating and allegedly selling a commercial premises to multiple people, police said.
Rajendra Mahale, a local MNS leader, owns a construction company in the Seawoods township of Navi Mumbai. The police Thursday arrested him on the basis of a complaint registered by Vithoba Ghadge, who had purchased a commercial shop from him in 2006.
“Ghadge, in his complaint, said the shop he purchased was already sold to someone else,” said senior police inspector Suresh Vedak.
“When he took up the matter with Mahale, he allotted him another shop which was also owned by someone else,” Vedak added.
Ghadge filed a complaint charging Mahale with cheating.
“Mahale, who was presented before a local court Thursday has agreed to the charges in front of the court and given a surety of paying back Ghadge the amount as per current market rates,” Vedak said.
