“The ACB Tuesday conducted raids at the Bilaspur and Korba locations of D.D. Sant, the sub-divisional officer, posted in Korba,” D.M. Awasthi, a senior official of the ACB, told reporters.

“We recovered a bunch of incriminating documents of his illegal assets and are still in the process of ascertaining the exact illegal amount the officer has amassed, but it’s not less than Rs.35 million.”

He said a case has been registered against the officer under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. ACB sources say the illegal assets of the forest official may cross Rs.50 million once the analysis of all documents is completed.

ACB, which has been on a drive against corrupt officials in the state for six months, said Sant, 50, has put much of his illegal money in real estate.
