Abu Dhabi : The United Arab Emirates is organising two music concerts that would focus on traditional Arabic instruments, oud and qanon.
The oud is a pear-shaped stringed instrument commonly used in North African, Egyptian and Middle Eastern music.
The qanon is a string instrument with a narrow trapezoidal soundboard. Nylon strings are stretched over a single bridge poised on fish-skins on one end, attached to tuning pegs at the other end.
The concerts May 18 and 25 would be organised by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) and would highlight the importance of the instruments to the Arab heritage, officials said.
