New Delhi: The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Friday once again slammed union Home Minister P. Chidambaram for the errors in India’s Most Wanted fugitives list given to Pakistan after a second man named in it was found to be in India.
Responding to the minister’s defence, CPI-M leader Brinda Karat told reporters here that Chidambaram should show some humility and that his attitude was a cause of concern.
“He appears on TV and starts shouting and defending himself, what is he trying to say? Is the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) under the prime minister and not the home ministry?” said Karat.
“He should show some humility… it’s this attitude which is a cause of concern,” she added.
Feroze Abdul Rashid Khan, listed in the dossier as Most Wanted criminal No.24, was Thursday found to be in Mumbai’s fortified Arthur Road Central Jail and facing trial in the March 12, 1993, Mumbai serial blasts case, official sources said.
The embarrassing revelation come two days after Wazhul Qamar Khan, accused number 42, and alleged to be in Pakistan, was found working and living with his family in Thane, a suburb of Mumbai.
“Can’t the home ministry confirm whether the date on the warrant was correct or not. This is not done. The government is answerable and accountable to the people… But will the home minister be allowed to get away with this?” added Karat.
