Gandhinagar: Prabha Taviad, the Congress member of parliament from Dahod, was forcibly evicted from the dias during a government programme in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi at Godhra Friday.
The incident took place during the government organised Krishi Mahotsav rally, when the tribal MP approached the chief minister and asked him why the local Congress legislator was arrested and prevented from attending the function.
C.K. Raolji, the local legislator, was detained along with 40 Congress workers for reportedly trying to burn an effigy of Modi.
Taviad later told reporters that the chief minister had refused to acknowledge her presence or answer her questions.
“When I insisted on an answer, police forcibly ejected me from the stage,” she added.
Last year Taviad was prevented from attending the “Garib Kalyan Mela” event at Kadana in Dahod district.
Leader of the opposition Shaktisinh Gohil condemned the chief minister for the inhuman treatment of the Congress MP in his presence.
“She was dragged off the stage while the chief minister watched only because she had sought to question him on the brutal treatment to congress MLAs and leaders protesting on local issues,” he said.
