Bhubaneswar : Global aluminium prices are likely to remain in a $2200-$2300 per tonne range for at least the next three-four months as uncertainty in Greece continues to keep pressure on prices, state-run National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) said Friday.
“We feel that $2100 to $2200 is the range of the global aluminium prices which will be maintained in the short term about a month or so and the three months average would be between $2200 and $2300 a tonne” NALCO chairman and managing director B.L. Bagra told IANS.
He said the uncertainty in Greece continues to keep the pressure on prices. “Prices are not finding their place according to the fundamentals. Fundamentals and technicals are both absent from the market as far as pricing is concerned,” he said.
He said nobody could predict how the situation would pan out and this uncertainty will keep the pressure on prices.
The Bhubaneswar headquartered NALCO is India’s third largest aluminium producer. Although it is a small player in the global metal market, its prices serve as an international benchmark.
