Lucknow: Accusing Chief Minister Mayawati of diverting public attention from the corrupt practices of her government by proposing division of Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state Wednesday said it was “contemplating bringing a no-confidence motion” against her.
“Mayawati’s move to divide the state into four parts is nothing more than a political stunt aimed to cover up the scams of her BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) government,” BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters here.
“Be it in terms of development, law and order or anything that can be associated with the progress of any state… the BSP government has failed on all fronts.
“We are seriously deciding to bring a no-confidence motion against the BSP government in the upcoming session,” said Naqvi, adding that a final decision would be taken by the party’s central leadership.
The winter session of the state legislature begins Nov 21.
