Jodhpur: An additional director of CBI reached here from New Delhi Saturday to review the investigation conducted into the case of missing nurse Bhanwari Devi, sources said.
“Additional Director Salim Ali has come to supervise the investigations as the CBI will have to submit a progress report in the matter before the Rajasthan High Court Nov 24,” a source in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) told IANS.
Bhanwari Devi, who had gone missing Sep 1, has remained untraceable, with the high court constantly lambasting the investigating agencies over their failure to find her.
Meanwhile, the CBI did not summon sacked minister Mahipal Maderna for questioning Saturday, a day after he left the Mathura Das Mathur Hospital here.
Maderna, who is accused of raping, kidnapping and murdering Bhanwari Devi, had complained of chest pain and remained admitted to the hospital’s ICU despite allegations that medical tests conducted on him had showed his health to be normal.
“He left the hospital with family members around 10 p.m. Friday. He did not even inform the hospital administration,” a hospital doctor said, adding that the hospital prepared a discharge ticket after he had left.
Maderna went to his home here from the hospital and remained there throughout Saturday.
While he was not quizzed by the CBI, there were speculations that he might be arrested anytime.
Meanwhile, the CBI continued to send teams to rural areas of Jodhpur in search of the nurse’s body.
