Anil Singh walked into the reception area of the parliament house complex and after undergoing frisking asked the security staff to give him a pass to enter into the high-security complex.

“When denied a pass, he started a verbal altercation with Rajya Sabha security personnel,” said an official from the Parliament Street police station.

The security personnel tried to pacify him but he kept on saying that he “wanted to meet parliamentarians”.

“When he lost hope of going inside, he physically assaulted a security officer. He was overpowered and detained,” said the official.

Anil Singh, who came to Delhi three days ago, was overpowered by parliament security personnel and handed over to police. He was questioned at the police station.

“A joint team of police and intelligence agencies questioned him. We are awaiting a formal complaint. After that we may register a case of assault and obstructing government servants during duty,” said the official.

“Singh is a bit mentally unstable,” said the official.
