“They have been released,” Sunil Gupta, Tihar jail spokesperson, told IANS.

Kanimozhi and the others came out of the high-security jail avoiding the media.

The 43-year-old Rajya Sabha member, Kalaignar TV chief Sharad Kumar, Cineyug Films’ Karim Morani and Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd directors Asif Balwa and Rajeev B. Agarwal were granted bail by the Delhi High Court Monday. But they had to wait till Tuesday as the release warrant could not be issued by the special judge due to procedural delay.

The delay was caused as the certified copy of the high court’s order, which was required to be submitted along with the bail bonds before Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge O.P. Saini could not be furnished within the working hours of the trial court.

Mumbai-based realtor Shahid Balwa was granted bail Tuesday by a special CBI court. The court issued a warrant for release of all the six accused, including Kanimozhi.

Kanimozhi was lodged in sub-jail number six and Shahid Balwa and Asif Balwa in sub-jail number one. While Rajeev B. Agarwal and Sharad Kumar were in sub-jail number four, Karim Morani was lodged in sub-jail number six.
