Howrah (West Bengal): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Monday said the government decision to allow 51 percent FDI in multi-brand retail and 100 percent in single brand retail will not be implemented in the state.
“It will hit hard the small businessmen. Their means of living will be affected,” she said. Half of 10 crore people in the state constitute small businessmen, employees and their family members, she added.
“So we will not allow 51 percent FDI in retail in West Bengal,” she told media persons.
