The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in Lahore, the Nation reported. “We want to live with honour and dignity,” he was quoted as saying.

The prime minister urged people to stand by the government so that it could cope with the challenges.

The decision followed the Nov 26 NATO attack in Pakistan’s northwest tribal area Mohmand along the Afghan border.

After the incident, Pakistan closed the NATO supply lines from its territory to Afghanistan and ordered the US to vacate the Shamsi air base in Balochistan province.
