Saqib takes six-shot lead in Western India junior golf

Mumbai: Saqib Ahmed of Bangalore increased his lead to six shots following an even-par 70 in the second round of the Toyota IGU Western India Juniors Golf Championship at the BPGC Wednesday. Saqib, who shot 69 on the first day is now one-under 139 for two days and six clear of Aman Raj (75-71).

Yash Jindal (75-72) and Yashas Chandra (71-76) were tied for third at 147.

However, the day’s best score came from young Viraj Madappa in Category B, where he shot two-under 68 and moved to the top. He was second overall at 140, one behind Saqib.

Lying second in category B was overnight leader, Piyush Sangwan (71-73) at 144. Harsh Gangwar (72-74) was third at 146.

Leading Category C was Kshitij Naved Kaul (80-76) at 156 and he was followed by Karan Pratap Singh 77-81). Overnight leader Jaiveer Singh (77-84) slipped to fifth.

Aadil Bedi with a card of 74 was leading in Category D. He was followed by Harshjeet Singh Sethi (76).
