New Delhi : An 18-year-old school student here died after coming in contact with high voltage electric wires when he mounted a water tank to watch Dussehra celebrations, police said Friday.
Pawan, a Class 10 student, was seeing the effigies of Ravana and others go up in flames at a park near his Mangolpuri house in west Delhi Thursday evening.
For a better view, he climbed a six-foor high wall of the school where he studied. He then mounted the water tank.
“There he came in contact accidentally with the electric wires above him. Stunned, he lost his balance and fell on an iron railing whose spikes tore through his body,” Sub Inspector Surendra Singh told IANS.
Pawan was rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where he died during treatment.
Pawan is survived by his elder brother and mother. His father died a few years ago.
