New Delhi : The central government Wednesday approved financial assistance worth Rs.120 crore to West Bengal following the recent earthquake that rocked the region.
The amount is the second instalment of central share of State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and will be in addition to Rs.554.55 crore available with the state government, said a government release.
An earthquake of 6.8-magnitude Sep 18 affected five districts of Darjeeling, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Uttar Dinajpur and Malda of north West Bengal adjoining the epicenter of the quake near the Indo-Nepal border in Sikkim.
