The northern region is one of the deprived areas in Ghana and electricity supply from the national grid is yet to cover most districts. As a result, very few industries are situated in the region.

Speaking during a farewell call on Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, Ghana’s minister for local government and rural development, Ghanasyan said another group of women from the country have also received sponsorship to undergo training in the detection of narcotic drugs as part of a global push to fight illicit drugs. Ghanasyan has been in Accra for two and a half years.

Ofosu-Ampofo paid glowing tributes to Ghanashyan who, he said, had worked hard to further improve the relationship between the two countries.

In addition, Ghanashyan had used her tour of duty to initiate several projects all over the country and mentioned especially, a $40,000 loan provided by the Indian government to support women’s empowerment.

Ofosu-Ampofo said India had over the past few years provided a lot of support to Ghana in the areas of small-scale enterprises development and implementation of social opportunities.
