The issue of fake notes figured in discussions between Bhattarai and Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram.

“Some mechanism will be developed to check the flow of fake currency notes,” Bhattarai told reporters here.

He added that the problems faced by Nepali citizens in taking genuine Indian currency notes would also be resolved. “They get duped by unscrupulous elements. Some security forces are also involved. Mechanism would be developed for that also,” he said.

Ahead of Bhattarai’s visit, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee Wednesday had said that the Indo-Nepal border is one of the major routes for circulating counterfeit currency in the country and has sought the cooperation on the Nepal government to check this practice.

Issues relating to the extradition treaty and India’s demand for deployment of sky marshals on flights between the two countries was also discussed.
