MMK won a seat in the Coimbatore Corporation. It also won 14 wards in the Municipal Corporations, 40 wards in town panchayats. The party’s candidates also won the chairmanship of 6 Village panchayats and 84 wards in village panchayat, besides the party candidates won unopposed 15 local body posts including 3 town panchayat wards.

The party contested the local body elections on its own, after the ruling AIADMK decided to desert its assembly elections allies. The party was part of the AIADMK alliance during the Assembly polls held in April 2011 and had also won 2 seats. However the ruling AIADMK decided to contest the Local body elections on its own deserting all its allies in the last minute move, including the main opposition party DMDK, CPM, CPI and MMK.

MMK’s candidate lost the Lalpettai Town Panchayat chairmanship by a frisker. Its candidates came a close second or were in the 3rd positions in many of the posts it contested.
