Consumer helpline gets over 11,000 calls in July

New Delhi : The National Consumer Helpline (NCH) received 11,640 calls — with the maximum number 4,577 from Delhi — during July for consumer complaints, an official statement said Thursday.

According to latest figures by the ministry of consumer affairs, the maximum complaints — at 11 percent — came against consumer products, followed by telecom, banking, cooking gas and insurance sectors registering between 2 to 10 percent calls.

In addition, 263 complaints were also received through online complaint system on NCH website, the statement said.

After Delhi, the maximum complaints were received from Maharashtra (1,414), Uttar Pradesh (1,364), Haryana (857) and Rajasthan (598).

As per feedback received from 703 callers, 640 complaints were resolved under convergence with various companies, the statement said.

Consumers from across the country can access the toll-free National Consumer Helpline number 1800-11-4000 and seek telephonic counselling for consumer related problems faced by them.

The helpline also provides information, advice and guidance related to consumer issues.
