Ralegan-Siddhi (Maharashtra) : Social activist Anna Hazare Friday said the journey to end corruption was long and much distance remained to be covered.
Addressing his first rally since his 12-day fast in New Delhi last week, Hazare said the achievement in the capital last week was merely the beginning of the journey.
?The torch has been lit and held by people in the remotest corners of India, especially by the youth,” Hazare told a crowd here of around 10,000 people Friday evening. “Now this struggle for `independence from corruption? must be taken forward by the youth.?
He expressed satisfaction over the movement having got the support of all castes and communities, united on the issue of corruption.
Hazare said that the government had been ?jolted? by the agitation, but it would need similar “jolts” at regular intervals even in future.
Though appearing a bit frail and weary, Hazare displayed his usual fighting spirit and lashed out at the central government, specifically charging Home Minister P. Chidambaram with putting hurdles before his agitation in Delhi last fortnight.
