Urdu Times Editor on Anna: Movement honest, demands impractical

By Rehan Ansari, TwoCircles.net,

Mumbai: Anna Hazare’s movement is honest but their demands are impractical. The movement is backed by Sangh Parivar because it wants to cash this event and is trying to mobilse these innocent common men who were thronging at Ramlila Maidan to support Anna’s bill. However, government’s handling of Anna’s movement was immature, says Imtiyaz Ahmed, Executive Editor, Urdu Times daily published from Mumbai.

Interview with Imtiyaz Ahmed, Executive Editor, Urdu Times daily

Q: What is your first reaction to Anna Hazare’s movement against corruption?

The movement is honest but its demands are impractical and impossible.

Q: Do you agree with Anna’s Jan Lokpal Bill?

It is just a figment of imagination.

Q: Do you agree with Anna’s methods to put his demand?

India is a democratic country and Anna has a right to express his opinion and propagate it. He has also a right to organize a peaceful assembly.

Q: How do you rate the government’s handling of Anna’s movement?

It was an immature handling by the senior ministers and Congress functionary.

Q: Do you think Government is serious and honest in combating corruption?

Absolutely not.

Q: Do you agree that Anna’s movement is backed by Sangh Parivar?

It is crystal clear. The bomb blast that occurs in any part of India is having a double benefit — one is the arrest of innocent Muslim youth after the blast and the other is to create ruckus and despair among the common people. This strategy is planned by the Sangh Parivar. RSS wanted to cash this event and was trying to mobilse these innocent common men who were thronging at Ramlila Maidan to support Anna’s bill.

Q: Who do you think is funding Anna’s movement? Some say corporate houses while Congress named a US group.

The entire movement of Team Anna is funded by Corporate and may be some foreign forces.

Q: Govt’s Lokpal Bill or Anna’s Jan Lokpal Bill. Do you think either will be able to eliminate corruption entirely from our society?

No, because society itself is corrupt. Not only politicians and bureaucrats, even judges are corrupt.

Q: Do you think that team Anna’s proposed Jan Lokpal bill is “anti-Dalit” and “anti-minorities” as termed by several dalit leaders?

Yes, because there is not a single Muslim or dalit members in the core committee or other office bearer. I am not questioning the integrity of Anna, but he should check the background of Bhushans and Kejriwal who have not given a single post to Muslims and Dalits in core committee in the presence of Anna.
