Delhi CM announces compensation amount for blast victims

New Delhi: Acting fast to help the people, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has announced compensation amount for the victims of the deadly Delhi blast that killed nine people and wounded 45 others Wednesday morning near Delhi High Court.

According to the announcement, the Delhi government will give Rs 4 lakh each to the family of dead adults, Rs 1.5 lakh for dead child, Rs 2 lakh for physically handicapped, Rs 1 lakh for critically injured and Rs 10,000 for minor injuries.

At 10:17 am, a huge blast took place at Gate No. 5 of Delhi High Court, killing nine people on the spot. The explosive, according to the Home Secretary, was kept in a briefcase. More than 45 people have got injured in the blast.

Home Minister P. Chidambaram visited the blast site. He gave an official statement in the Parliament at 12:30 pm. In his statement he said it was a terror blast and the culprits whoever they may be will be booked soon.
