By TCN News,

New Delhi: Union Home Minister P Chidambaram while strongly condemning the high intensity terror blast told Lok Sabha (at 12:30 pm about two hours after the blast) that at this stage it is not possible to identify the group that caused the bomb blast near Delhi High Court today, former deputy prime minister and senior BJP leader L K Advani tried to give a direction to the probe by linking the Delhi blast with the coming 10th anniversary of 9/11 terrorist attack.

In his official statement in the Lok Sabha on the blast, Chidambaram said: “Delhi is a target of terrorist groups. When Parliament is in session and during certain other times of the year Delhi is placed on high alert. Intelligence agencies constantly share intelligence inputs with Delhi Police. Intelligence pertaining to threats emanating from certain groups was shared with Delhi Police in July, 2011. At this stage it is not possible to identify the group that caused the bomb blast today.”

He urged the House and the people of the country to remain resolute and united and must not show any vacillation. “At this point of time, I appeal to the House and to the people of the country that we must remain resolute and united. We must not show any vacillation. We shall never be intimidated by terrorist groups. We are determined to track down the perpetrators of this horrific crime and bring them to justice.”

Chidambaram said the objective of terrorist groups is “to strike fear and to destabilise the country. We are clear in our mind that there is no cause that will justify terrorist acts. Government unequivocally condemns the terrorist attack that took place today. The investigation of the case will be entrusted to the NIA.”

Soon after Chidambaram, L K Advani stood up in Lok Sabha to denounce the blast and condole the deaths, but in his brief speech Advani tried to give a direction to the probe. He said: “I don’t know how much connection is between today’s blast and coming 10th anniversary of 9/11 terrorist attack in the US. But such thing is often in the mind of terror groups. This is a serious matter for the country.”
