The one-hour-long video, titled “The Dawn Of Imminent Victory”, was recorded by al Zawahiri, who succeeded Osama bin Laden as the outfit’s chief, Sky News reported.

Bin Laden was killed by US special forces in his hideout in the Pakistani city of Abbottabad in May.

The video also contains a recording of bin Laden in which he tells Americans to avoid “falling as slaves” to the control of major companies.

The video, tracked by the SITE Intelligence Group that monitors online activity of jihadist organisations, said al Zawahiri offered his support for the recent uprisings in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia. Al Zawahiri termed the revolutions are a “form of defeat” for the US.

He also called on the people in those countries to “establish true Islam and Sharia-based governance”.
