Lucknow : Accusing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati of misguiding the socially marginalised people, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday demanded Mayawati to come up with the “latest records pertaining to status of welfare schemes launched to benefit the Dalit community”.
“The claims made by the chief minister and her Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government regarding improvement in the living standards of Dalits are baseless. They are meant just to appease the Dalit community with an intention to swell the party’s vote bank,” BJP national spokesperson Ramnath Kovid, himself a Dalit, told reporters here.
“Everyone will know the reality of Mayawati’s much-touted projects, if she comes out with records related to the present status of projects undertaken in education, employment and health sectors for the betterment of Dalits. We want to know how many hospitals and schools have been set up by Mayawati in her tenure of over four years,” he added.
Kovid alleged while the benefits of projects and welfare schemes announced by Mayawati were yet to reach the Dalits, her won party members and government officials were misusing public funds.
