Bangalore: The Muslim Students Organization (MSO) felicitated about 350 meritorious Muslim students of Class X and Class XII for their excellent performance in the respective examinations held in 2011. MSO has been working for the educational empowerment of Muslims since 1993.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. G. Parameshwar, President, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, the Chief Guest of the function, congratulated the awardees and said that the Muslim students are in no way inferior to others. He asked the awardees to make use their educational talents efficiently and come up to join the mainstream of the Society. Mrs. Nasfees Fazal, former Minister in Govt. of Karnataka advised the students to shun inferiority complex and concentrate on studies for making healthy contribution to the nation and the community in the future.
Mr. Abdul Reyaz Khan, Chairman, Karnataka State Board of Wakfs; Mr. S.A. Hussain, Secretary, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee; Mr. Atharulla Sharieff, General Secretary, Jamat-e-Islami Hind, Karnataka and Goa; Mr. A.S. Khan, President, Karnataka Muslim Industrialists Association; Mr. Syed Mudeer Aga, Former Chairman, Karnataka State Minorities Commission and Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed, Principal, Al-Ameen College, Bangalore were the other dignitaries who honoured the awardees and encouraged them to scale higher rungs on the ladder of excellence in academics as well as in life. Each awardee was presented a Certificate of Appreciation and a Memento.
Special Awards each carrying a Certificate, a Memento and cash of Rs. 5000=00 were presented to following toppers: Ms. Israr Banu from Gadag for securing first rank in PUC (Arts Stream) in the whole state of Karnataka; Mr. Asaf Ali K. Kammar from Hubli for securing second rank in CET-2011 (a exam for entrance to Professional courses) in medical stream and Mr. K.R. Arafath, from Chintamani for securing first rank in Diploma-CET 2011. Awards for securing highest number of marks by Muslim Students in Mathematics, English and Urdu in the Class X Exam were also presented. These awards instituted by the office bearers of MSO in the names of their deceased family heads under the names “Syed Abdul Razack Award for Mathematics”, “Amjad Ali Award for English” and “Naseebunnisa Award for Urdu” respectively, also carried a Certificate, a Memento and cash of Rs. 5000=00 each.
The function was presided over by Maulana Mohammed Haneef Afsar Azeezi, Imam-o-Khateeb, Masjid-e-Beaupariyan, Bangalore.
A Souvenir on the ‘Importance of Education’ was also released on the occasion. Mr. Syed Shahid Ahmed, Founder and President, MSO said that the organization for the past nineteen years has been conducting such programmes for encouraging merit in the Muslims Students for making them become better educated and well informed citizens of tomorrow to lead the nation and the community. He said that the MSO would shortly establish a hostel at Bangalore for Muslim students coming to the city from various parts of Karnataka and other places and the hostel would have a hall for Namaz, arrangements for Sehri and Iftar during Ramzan, hygienic food and other facilities. Mr. Asif Ali, the General Secretary said that the MSO from the current year would be sponsoring Muslims for Journalism Courses and would also be preparing one or two potential candidates to successfully take up Examination for Civil Services.
The function was held on 10th September 2011 and a large number of ulema, scholars, educationists, intellectuals, representatives of various schools and colleges, NGOs and parents of the awardees attended the function.
