New Delhi: Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, the first Asian woman to serve in the British cabinet and co-chair of the Conservative Party, visited her alma mater Jamia Millia Islamia here Monday.
Talking about her “humble” working class background and her rise to a prominent position in British politics, Warsi said: “We should not think in terms of East and West and other such binaries and stereotypes as I am myself a living example of transcending and breaking through such essentialisms.”
Warsi, who had an interactive session with the Jamia students, was welcomed by Vice Chancellor Najeeb Jung.
