Congress flays BJP over Advani comment

By IANS,

New Delhi: The Congress Wednesday said there was “upheaval” in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) — after its leader L.K. Advani indicated he was not keen to be the prime minister.

“I don’t think there is any need to comment” on Advani’s statement, Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said. “There is upheaval in the BJP. Fear, annoyance is there.”

Singhvi added the BJP had five to seven aspirants for the top post. “As for the Congress, there is no vacancy for the prime minister’s post.”

Advani Wednesday indicated in Nagpur that he was not striving to be the party’s prime ministerial candidate in the next general elections.
