PM leaves for UN General Assembly session

New Delhi : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Wednesday left on a six-day visit to participate in the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Manmohan Singh left for New York by a special Air India aircraft from the Palam technical area of the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

In his departure message, Manmohan Singh said: “This is the time for the UN to resume its global leadership role.”

“Terrorism and non-traditional threats to international security, such as piracy, are threatening states and the international political and social order.” he said.
