Islamabad : Two people were arrested in Pakistan for refusing to give polio drops to their children.
The arrest warrant for another person was issued Tuesday.
“The parents will have to face jail if they refuse polio drops to their children,” Dawn quoted Siraj Ahmed Khan, an official in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, as saying.
He said those who instigate others against polio campaign would also face legal action.
“Two persons, who had refused polio vaccines to their children, were sent to jail while case was registered against another person for similar reasons,” Khan added.
The official said that they had instructions to take strict action against parents who refuse to administer polio vaccine to their children.
Another official said 3.22 million children below the age of five years would be administered anti-polio drops during a campaign.
