UNHCR seeks $33 mn for Pakistan flood victims

Islamabad/Geneva : The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is seeking $33.2 million to help the flood victims in Pakistan.

UNHCR said the funds will be used to provide 75,000 tents and 75,000 kits of household relief items and thousands of plastic sheets, which can be used as emergency shelters.

The supplies will benefit an estimated 525,000 people.

The assistance will be provided to flood-hit victims in Badin, Tando, Muhammad Khan, Mir Pur Khas, Benazirabad, Dadu, Jamshoro and Thatta districts of Sindh province.

The aid is also for flood affected people in Kalat, Nasirbad, Jaffarabad, Lashbella, Pishin and Qilla Abdullah districts of Balochistan province.

Sindh and Balochistan provinces of Pakistan were hit by floods over the past few weeks triggered by heavy rains.
