Shimla : Six-time Congress legislator from Himachal Pradesh Prem Singh died Friday due to a massive heart attack, family members said. He was 63.
The cremation would take place in Dadahu village in Sirmaur district, some 70 km from district headquarters Nahan.
“He suffered a heart attack at around 7 a.m. in his residence (in Maina Rajna village) and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead,” his family said.
Prem Singh, a former chief parliamentary secretary in the previous Congress government from 2003 to 2007, contested all the assembly elections from Renuka (reserved) constituency.
This is the second death of a legislator in the state in less than three months. In June, three-time Bharatiya Janata Party legislator from Nalagarh H.N. Saini died after a prolonged illness.
