The teams comprise 307 men and are equipped with 60 boats, life jackets, generator sets and other equipments, a ministry statement said.

Four helicopters – three from the air force and one from the navy — have been deployed for air-dropping food packets.

Six districts of Orissa — Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Baleswar, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar have been affected by floods.

“The central government is closely monitoring the situation and is in close touch with the state government for extending the required support and assistance,” the ministry added.
