New Delhi: With speculation that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi would be a prime ministerial candidate in 2014, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley Tuesday said there were several contenders for the post and the best would be chosen.
Talking to reporters here, he said the BJP was a “structured” party and several leaders were eligible for the prime minister’s role.
“Most CMs (chief ministers) and central leaders qualify for it (prime minister’s post). Near the elections, whoever emerges as the best among equals will emerge as the leader,” Jaitley said evading a direct reply.
