Lucknow: The action against misappropriation of waqf land in Rampur has begun with district administration sealing 34 shops being constructed on a waqf land. The action was taken following the report by Chairman, Shia Waqf Board Syed Waseem Rizvi after he conducted physical inspection of the property.
On the other hand, Mutawalli of Shahi Waqf, Naved Miyan who is also a Congress MLA termed the developments as an harassment exercise at the behest of ruling party.
District administrative officials led by ADM Satya Ram Patel inspected Hussaini Sarai premises and sealed 34 shops. A total of 98 shops are being constructed in the premises of Hussaini Sarai. Presently only 34 shops were complete. Officials had put their own locks on these shops. The office of the builder running from a shop was also sealed. Administration has stopped further construction of the complex and even denied the painting work going on in the premises.
On the other hand, Mutawalli, Naved Miyan has broken his silence and come out all against the action of the waqf board. In his reply he has stated that the permission for construction of the shops was given by the present chairman himself during previous regime. Earlier the Chairman, Syed Waseem Rizvi was in BSP which was the ruling party and Naved Miyan was a minister in the same government. Thus there was no acrimony among both of them. With the change of guard SP government was formed and Naved Miyan’s bete noire Azam Khan is now a minister. “I will face the atrocities of the government and fight it till Supreme Court,” said Naved Miyan after the action. He also stated that Chairman of the Waqf Board is doing it just to save his skin and his chair.
Azam Khan having the waqf portfolio this time has announced that all illegal encroachments on the waqf land will be removed. Rampur has around 435 properties which are registered with the waqf board.
