Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar also participated in the meeting that took place at the Governor’s House in Lahore Saturday evening.

It is believed that issues outstanding with India were discussed, Dawn reported.

In the first presidential visit from Pakistan in the last seven years, Zardari, accompanied by an over 40-member delegation, will fly to New Delhi Sunday morning.

After touching down in Delhi at 11.30 a.m. Sunday, Zardari would head straight to the prime minister’s official residence at 7 Race Course Road for the one-on-one talks, followed by lunch with senior members of the delegation. He would later fly to Ajmer to offer prayers at the revered shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

The meeting in Lahore took place to brief Zardari before his trip to India on the issues that may be raised during his talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The media report said an issue that could come up was India’s demand for the custody of Jamaat-ud Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed for his involvement in the Mumbai terror attack.
